August Recap: I Was Outside, Lots of Celebrations, Milestones.

August was soooo busy! Every single weekend, I was on the go, juggling trips, celebrations, and work, but it was one of the most rewarding months I’ve had in a long time. From visiting friends and family to working on my professional goals, August was packed with some unforgettable moments.

A Weekend in Suffolk, VA

The month kicked off with a trip to Suffolk, VA, where we spent the weekend with one of my husband’s closest friends from high school and his family. It was a much-needed break filled with good company, great conversations, and a chance to slow down a bit. Sometimes you need those weekends that remind you of the power of friendships and reconnecting with loved ones.

Day Date in DC: WNBA Game & Dinner at Kitchen and Kocktails

Next up, we headed outside to DC for a day date, and let me tell you—it was so worth it! We caught a WNBA game and cheered on the Washington Mystics as they battled it out on the court. They lost but we still had a good time! There’s something about being at a live game, feeling the energy of the crowd, and witnessing athleticism. Those ladies can ball!

Afterward, we had an amazing dinner at Kitchen and Kocktails, a spot that had been on our list for a while. The food was delicious, and it was the perfect way to cap off a day filled with fun and quality time with Mister. It was also a great reminder of how important it is to carve out time with your spouse to just enjoy each other’s company—outside of the usual routine.

A Quick Trip to NC: Celebrating My Sister

Mid-month, we made a quick trip down to North Carolina to celebrate my sister, who was honored with the Triad Spotlight Business Award! Watching her be recognized for her hard work and accomplishments was such a proud moment for our family. It was one of those times when you sit back and think, “Wow, she’s really doing it!” Celebrating her success was definitely a highlight of the month.

Kennedi’s Big 13th Birthday

To wrap up August, we celebrated Kennedi’s 13th birthday! I still can’t believe she’s officially a teenager. Time really does fly. Not only did we throw a fun birthday bash, but she also started her last year of middle school. It’s such a bittersweet moment—seeing her grow up and blossom into her own, but also realizing just how fast she’s growing.

Ive been so busy, I don’t think its fully hit me yet, but I really have a whole teenager.

Balancing Work and Life

On top of all the personal adventures, I also focused on my professional goals this month. I worked on my blog and revamped my professional websites, which have been projects I’ve been meaning to dive into for a while now. And yes, they’re coming along beautifully! If you’re reading this the blog is finally live!

I also shot content for two restaurants, which was so much fun and allowed me to flex my creative muscles. Getting back into the swing of content creation while juggling everything else was a challenge, but when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.

Honoring Myself: 100 Miles in August

In the midst of all the chaos and celebrations, I honored a promise I made to myself: 100 miles in August. I set this goal at the beginning of the month, determined to prioritize my physical and mental well-being despite the busy schedule. And guess what? I did it! It wasn’t easy, but I carved out time almost every day to move my body, whether it was walking, running, or a combination of both.

This challenge was so much more than just fitness for me—it was about commitment, showing up for myself, and proving that no matter how packed life gets, there’s always room to take care of you.

Thank You August

August was a beautiful whirlwind, and as busy as it was, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It was a reminder of how full life can be—full of love, celebrations, milestones, and even challenges that push you to grow. I’m so grateful for the experiences, the laughter, and the moments that made this month one for the books.

Now that September is here, I’m ready to carry this momentum forward and see what the next season brings. But first, I might need a nap!
